Nelson Construction Co. is a privately owned
heavy highway construction company established in Boise Idaho in 1938 by Rudolf Nelson.
Its original business consisted mostly of gravel and mineral mining as well as the
supplying and sale of sand and gravel products. As time progressed and the area around the
capital of Idaho grew, opportunity and good construction sense provided a ripe environment
for the expansion of actively aggressive construction companies. Nelson Construction has
been consistently well positioned in Boise. Its location on the east end of the city has
provided effective access to gravel resources as well as construction projects. Through
the years Nelson Construction has always pursued a philosophy of growth and expanded
scope. Although, still located in its original location, Nelson Constructions
breadth reaches through most of the central northwest and includes a full range of heavy
highway, mining, development and site-work activities.
Nelson Construction is presently owned by its second Nelson
generation Donald (Jim) Nelson. Under Jims leadership Nelson Construction has
greatly expanded its financial security and presence in the local community. A former
member of the local West One Bank board and a current board member of the St. Lukes
hospital, the Peregrine Falcon Fund, and Boise State University Foundation, Jim has
constant contact and influence within the local community.
